Glasnost Gone

As part of its humanitarian assistance in Ukraine, the Red cross provides greenhouses for communities living in remote, front line villages. This provides not only a welcome source of food, but also some much needed income through sales. With many elderly residents making up the majority of those occupying front line villages, having a ready source of food saves on long and costly journeys spent travelling to shops in larger villages/towns.

Seen here, Svitlana from the Ukrainian held, front line village of Bolotene is seen picking tomatoes. This community received this greenhouse 2 years ago. The produce allows 15 elderly families who remain in the village, to renew their farming skills & avoid exhausting trips to food markets.
