That’s the startling number of times in 2018, when weapons have been fired in eastern Ukraine. Some 8,292 ceasefire violations recorded last wk, up 50% on prev week.
On the plus side, there’s been a large reduction in violations since the July 1st, reconstituted ceasefire. As the OSCE point out, this is not really a new ceasefire, just another occasion when both sides have again agreed to stop firing at one another. The reduction proves soldiers can be ordered not to fire.
